Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player

The goal of application note is to explain how to install and use the Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player PowerPoint addin.

DEVICE CONFIGURATION
Check that the device WebUI is available with URL http://<device_ip_adrr>/
(default factory scheme value) In the device configuration Web interface, check in the Configuration > App
menu that the radio button Push WebDAV
is properly selected (default factory value). For further information, read the device user manual.
ADDIN INSTALLATION
To install the Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player PowerPoint addin:
- Download the appropriate installer (.msi file)

may require to run the MS-PowerPoint with the Administrator rights to be able to inactivate the Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player PowerPoint addin.

- Press next at each step, and take a look at the default settings.
- Warning: one installation step is quite long and can take several minutes (for example 2 minutes, ) and may depend on the computer.
- Once the installation is completed, open MS-PowerPoint; a new
Qeedji
menu does appear in MS-PowerPoint. If the menu does not appear while the compatibitity criteria are fully filled, contact support@qeedji.tech. - For older computer, it could be requested to install first .NET framework version 4.X.Y before installing the
Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player
PowerPoint addin.
The Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for SLATEs
is using the MS-Windows language for translation.
ADDIN CONFIGURATION
To configure the Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player
PowerPoint addin:
- Click on the
Qeedji
menu to make appear the ribbon:Settings

Auto detection
button to detect the media players available on your local network. - Select the wished media players to add to your list.
- Select then the media player on which you want to publish by activating the check box (double clicking).
- Define the
Background color
with the color picker (suitable for PowerPoint medias having transparency). - Activate the option
Force for manual transitions an automatic progression of <n> secondes
(default: 10 secondes) to define the time per slide for slides having no duration per slide defined.
- Press on the
PUBLISH WITH THE ADDIN
To publish a content on your media player:
- Open a MS-PowerPoint (.pptx file only),
- In MS-PowerPoint, define the duration per slide for each slide according to your needs,
- If required, you have the possibility with the
Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player
PowerPoint addin (Settings
menu) to define the automatic time per slide for the slide having no duration per slide defined.
- If required, you have the possibility with the
- Add some transition effects if required,
- Some of the MS-PowerPoint transition effects may be not yet supported. For further information, refer to the media player release note.
- As option, you can click on
Settings
to double check the list of the media players whose the content needs to be updated, - Click on the
Publish
button. Your presentation is played on the media players.
INTERACTIVITY WITH THE USER
The interactivity with the user (key pressed) is supported as soon as the PowerPoint presentation is played on the media player.
If your monitor does support the CEC:
- Press on the
RIGHT ARROW
key of the monitor remote control to go to the next slide, - Press on the
LEFT ARROW
key of the monitor remote control to go to the previous slide, - Note: some monitors may require to select again the video input so that the CEC works properly.
If your monitor does not support the CEC properly, you can plug an USB keyboard:
- Press on the
RIGHT ARROW
key of the USB keyboard to go to the next slide, - Press on the
LEFT ARROW
key of the USB keyboard to go to the previous slide, - Enter the slide number (for example: the number 4) then press
ENTER
to advance the PowerPoint presentation to a specific slide.
Warning: Gekkota 4 allows to display/undisplay automatically the test card when pressing the key combination: LEFT ARROW

in less than 10 seconds. To inactivate this feature, set the user preference innes.player.mire.key-event.*.authorized
to false.
SCREEN STANDBY
To program a monitor standby task with recurrency, for example from 8.00 PM to 7.00 AM the day after, use the device Power Manager
feature (menu Configuration > Task
of the device Web configuration interface). For further information, read the device user manual.
STATUS REPORT
The Publishing status report is showing whether the publishing for each media player has succeeded or not:
Publishing succeeded
: the publication has succeededPublishing failure (Error: 503)
: the publishing has failed. Please double check the network connection between your PC and the device

Warning - Unable to find the following fonts:
Arvo, Montserrat Black, Cabin SemiBold
The Publishing status report is showing also whether the MS-PowerPoint media can be rendered with the right fonts. In case some fonts can not be found on the Windows OS, a message Warning - Unable to find the following fonts
is displayed followed by the missing fonts names. To solve the rendering issue, install the missing fonts on your Windows OS and publish again.
Windows fonts location:
- The default Windows font are installed here:
C:\Windows\Fonts
. - The custom fonts installed by the user are installed here:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts
ADD A CUSTOM FONT
Retrieve the appropriate custom font (.ttf most of time). Double click on it to install it on your Windows OS. Publish the PowerPoint again.
REPLACE A CUSTOM FONT BY ANOTHER ONE IN THE WHOLE POWERPOINT DOCUMENT
If you don't manage to retrieve the font, you can decide to replace the missing custom font by another one, existing this time, in the whole PowerPoint document. In this case, use the Home > Replace > Replace Fonts
PowerPoint menu.
ADDIN UNINSTALLATION
To remove the Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media Player
addin from your Windows OS, use the Add or remove programs
Windows menu, then remove the program Qeedji PowerPoint Publisher for Media player

The App "Qeedji Powerpoint Publisher for Media players" is not supported on this device
- In some rare cases, this message could be prompted when opening MS-PowerPoint. In this case, do ignore the message by clicking No:
Powerpoint has problems with the Qeedji complement.
If the problem persists, disable this add-on and check for updates. Do you want to disable it now? (yes/no)
